Meteor
It was a beautiful evening, so I thought I would go out and look at the sky a few minutes before going to bed. As I stood there enjoying the beauty of the night I saw a streak of light go across the sky. I had forgot. It was time for the Perseid Meteor Shower. I went into the house and grabbed my camera and tripod and set up in the back yard. Thinking that my chances were slim to none of getting a good shot. Worth a try though. I set the camera at 1/30 of a sec. ISO at 1600 and f3.5 Ap. This was my first attempt at trying a shot like this, but all I could do was guess. I am not very experienced at night photography of any kind, let alone meteors.
If you look about middle of photo you can see a streak running from about 12:30 down to about 6:30. It is faint but that is a meteor. The line of dots going across the left lower third of the photo is a passing plane. I had to get up at five am for work today. If not for that I might have had time to come up with a better setting. Maybe a 15 sec. with a higher ISO would have helped, but I was banking on luck and a long exposure in hopes of capturing one. It was a good evening with light passing clouds and there seemed to be more meteors than usual. I saw seven in about 25 minutes and caught three in my exposures. This is the only one that came out at all though. Oh well, maybe next time I will do better.
